VOLUNTEERS

Our volunteers help us put our best foot forward

Our volunteers help us put our best foot forward!

Our volunteer opportunities are many and varied. No matter what your interest or activity level, we have something you will enjoy. Each volunteer position offers its own unique rewards. Volunteering at One Reel is an opportunity to meet people who share your love of festivals, the arts, community service, close work with dedicated professionals, and teamwork all while enjoying great music and art.

Volunteers get to see event production behind the scenes and do a great community service by helping us do bigger and better things. Volunteers can also earn tickets to the show, get an exclusive Volunteer T-shirt, and can put their hours toward meeting a community service requirement.

Signups, scheduling, and confirmations are done via Shiftboard, our on-line scheduling system. To sign up, fill out our application form. Once your application has been approved, you'll have the opportunity to join specific teams at each event that match your interests and skill set.

Office

If you would like to donate your time and skills working at the One Reel offices, we are often in need of people with strong administrative and organizational skills. Responsibilities include general reception, answering phones, and preparing mailings, amongst other tasks.

Customer Service

One Reel events draw large crowds of people and we need volunteers who love to work with the public, have a positive attitude, and can provide the best service possible to our attendees. Positions in this category range from working in our information booths, helping out with line management, or working in hospitality areas.

Universal Volunteers

When we need someone for a general job, we can call on you. As a Universal Volunteer we'll call on you to pitch in at any time, running errands and completing tasks not just during our large events but at times throughout the year.

Hands-On Crew

These volunteers must enjoy getting a little dirt under their finger nails as they pitch in to lay down turf, hang signage, etc. By volunteering with the One Reel Production Department, you'll get a strong sense of the physical work and planning that it takes to put on large-scale events.

Street Team

Be a part of our grassroots marketing efforts! First of all, you must love Bumbershoot. Second, you must be able and willing to talk to the public about Bumbershoot as an ambassador for the festival at other Seattle-area events. Volunteers should expect to be on their feet for the length of their shift, interacting with people and spreading the good word about Bumbershoot.

Catering Crew

The Catering Crew Team is another fabulous option, in addition to the Hands-On Team, for people who are ready to get some energy out working on-grounds and learn about the inner workings of event production. This team will assist with all sorts of jobs related to catering such as preparation, clean up, and distribution.

Benefits of Volunteering

Volunteer shifts that do not fall on show days have a variety of options, often including earning Bumbershoot or Teatro ZinZanni tickets through hours worked. Event volunteers are normally invited to stay and enjoy the event after their volunteer shift is over (this includes Bumbershoot, and the Family 4th fireworks).

So apply now, get involved, and help make art happen.
